
Malaka Gharib is a freelance illustrator, cartoonist and writer based in Washington, D.C., and founder of The Runcible Spoon, an independent food zine. Her illustrations have been published in Saveur Magazine and NPR, and she also creates artwork for several local musicians and community projects in the D.C. area.
Her work has been recognized in the New York Times, the Washington Post, Oprah Magazine, Brightest Young Things, Refinery 29 and Hyphen Magazine, and mentioned by Design*Sponge, Scanwiches, Fast Company and Orangette.
By day, she is a social media and blog editor for the ONE Campaign. She has given talks on new media and advocacy at Johns Hopkins University, the Development Communicators Network and the US Department of State.
